Author's Note: this is my first book concept. I will give you the premise of the story, a list of characters, and then a rough draft of the first few chapters.
Premise:
Etti Chamele's family looks normal from the outside: an older brother moving out to college, a freshman girl moving up to high school, and a newborn boy moving onto crawling, divorced parents. But when you look closer, a lot closer, you'll see that the Chamele parents have a secret and a mission. To protect the world from the greatest danger ever imagined: faeries. Most people believe that "faerie life" is all cupcakes and unicorns, and that is how they started out. But eventually, the faeries grew aware of the fact that they have the power to overrule humans with their magic, and centuries ago, after multiple wars with humans against faeries, they scored a peace treaty that both would forget that the other existed. But the humans grew paranoid. They thought the faeries would simply strike when they weren't looking, so they assigned a guard of their world. The Chameles. They had to keep all beliefs of faeries out of mind, making them believe that they were fake and fictional.
When Ettie Chamele overhears one of her parents' conversations, she becomes suspicious. Then she starts to investigate, with friends Shi, Sy, and Si Orams and their older brother Rankin Orams, she discovers the world of faeries. And it's not exactly the friendliest place she expected...
